De-Clawing a Cat

Pet owners that have cats will often know how difficult it is to make the decision to declaw a cat. This is because there is a great of pain for the cat that is associated with declawing the pet. There should be great care and consideration for those that are deciding on whether or not they should advance with the procedure.

Most cat owners that declaw their cat do so in order for their indoor cats to stop tearing up furniture as well as scratching people. This is important to those that know how painful a cat scratch can be, and who want to save their furniture from the ruins of a cat’s claws. The procedure to remove the claws can be a traumatic experience for a cat, which is why it is important for the owner to make great consideration of the process for the cat.

Those pet owners that have cats that are outside should not opt to have their cat’s claws removed. This is because they will often need their claws for helping them with the lifestyle that they have of living out in nature. Their claws will often come in handy to catch rodents for consumption, and to ward off any other stray animals that may come their way. Due to these factors, declawing an outdoor cat should not be on the list of many, and should be followed with great caution. Although many cat owners will claim that declawing their cat was the best possible move for their cat, it can also be the most harmful.
