Exercise for Cats
Creating an exercise regime for a cat is not as difficult as one may think. It is important for cats to be active and keep a healthy weight. Just as with humans, there is the need for a cat to receive the proper exercise, which can be accomplished with the assistance of the cat’s owners.
There are various ways that a cat can exercise to stay healthy throughout their life. A cat will often love to stretch and roll around. Although many cat owners may not see it as such, this is a form of a cat receiving exercise. It is important to encourage this activity, as with any other activities that a cat can do. Many cats love small, soft toys that can be thrown around the home that they can chase down. Small toys that can jingle from a bell, or that will crinkle with pressed will often intrigue the cat for an extended period of time, in which they can receive a great deal of exercise.
Having a cat stay active is important to their vitality of life. Exercise helps the cat with depression and stress, and lets them know that they are loved when they are interacted with. Many vets will even suggest that a cat owner gets down on the floor and play with the cat as well. Being on the same level as the cat gives the cat a feeling that they are not inferior to the owner, trusting the owner even more, and opening the doors for playtime.
