Be careful with home made toys
Buying tons of cat toys can make you almost bankrupted, therefore it is not advisable to constantly be buying your cat endless amounts of cat toys. In their place, you can choose to select some “safe” human toys that can be suitable also for cats or even make your own.
Of course, you will need to take into consideration if you have other pets in the house than your cat or cats that they too will be playing with the toys. Therefore, if you happen to have a Rottweiler with two or three cats in your house, buying plush animals will not be advisable, unless you are willing to take your Rottie to the vet in a rush with an intestinal plush obstruction.
Plush animals are always enticing to cats, and if you want to enjoy the cute way cats play with plush toys, then what you should do is acquire small keychain sized plush toys and attach them to a strand, stick or string so that you can stay at a healthy distance from their projected claws and allow them to frolic.
Once the game has ended, remember to collect the toys and not to leave them lying around at Rottie’s reach.
Another alternative is to create your own toys; with simple everyday things like tissue paper and even water-filled balloons you can get many hours worth of fun, the only thing that you have to consider and be aware of is that when you are playing with home-made toys you need to be there to supervise.
Never leave a pet unattended with a toy, especially one that is home made. By not leaving them unattended, will save you and your pet a lot of grief, pain and money, of course.

This also applies to cat furniture. I have been disappointed with most cat furniture. It isnt well built sometimes, and might not fit into your decor. A few months ago one of our cats decided to jump on an antique sewing machine cabinet that I found in the dumpster 20 years earlier. She would love to sit on it for hours. The only thing is that it was a bit in need of repair, and not very comfortable to sit on. So, I decided to spruce it up, removing all the paint. I then repainted it with orange milk paint (which is no odor and zero VOX, making it green friendly.), and added some knobs that look like cat eyes. I then put a cat bed on top, and she now loves it. So, the moral of the story is, if your cat uses certain pieces of furniture, refurbish it for kitty. They will be happy, and it will be a great conversation piece too.
