Disciplining a Cat

Many cat owners see their cats as an extended part of their family, and in some instances, as their child. Just as with a child, however, a cat can often act up and cause chaos in the home. There are effective ways to properly discipline a cat without being abrasive or impede danger on the cat.

Many times, a cat will act out as a result of anger and frustration. They will also do it to get attention if they feel as though they are not receiving enough of it. In some instances, cats have been known to break items in the home by urinating, chewing, even scratching apart various materials. Some cats are known to topple over items in the house, such as breakable objects, that can often shatter into many pieces, and can hurt the cat if they step on it. A cat that acts out with such activities should be handled immediately. The proper way to discipline a cat is to often talk to them in a demanding tone. This means that there is not a need to scream at the cat. Yelling at a cat is often not at all effective, and will typically result in the cat acting out even more.

Another variation to disciplining a cat is to place them in a room by themselves, where they can not get into trouble. This is often highly effective, as the owner will know where the cat is at all times, and will have a peace of mind in knowing that the cat will be unable to ruin anything further in the home.
