Introducing Other Animals to Cats
In many ways, cats are very territorial and do not want to be bothered with. This is especially true for those cats that have been the only animal in a household for quite some time. As with many pet owners, there is a desire to add another animal to the house, which can be of the benefit to the cat, as well as bringing in another animal into the house to love.
There are some cats that are very much against having another animal in the home. Cats are especially territorial and do not want to feel as though their immediate space is threatened from other animals that have been brought into the home. It is best to give any new pet that is added to the population in a home its own space, with an area to eat, sleep, and go to the bathroom. In doing so, the cats that have already been in the home will not feel inferior to the new pet that has been brought in.
In many instances, there are those times where it is important to bring in the new addition to the home for a trial run stay. This means that the new animal is in the home prior to fully taking them in, and the cats that are currently present can interact with the new animals before they make a new home in the residence. Introducing other animals to cats does not have to be unappealing for the cat owner and is certainly a subject that should be handled with great care and caution.
