Make Your Cat a Star with the ASPCA and PBS
If you have been thinking about adopting a new cat or dog and you live in the Boulder, Colorado area, then you may just end up on TV. The ASPCA is filming a new show for PBS called Meet Your Match at the Boulder Valley Humane Society. This documentary series will air on the PBS Nature series and will film at the Boulder Valley Humane Society from Tuesday, June 17th through Wednesday June 18th from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The new show would like to film people who are going through the adoption process using the Boulder Valley Humane Society’s meet your match program. The program matches potential pet owners with their ideal pet using a personality and behavioral assessment of both the people and their potential pets. The pets in the shelter are placed in one of nine personality categories based on their behavior and temperament and then that category is placed on their kennel card.
When a potential pet owner arrives they fill out a questionnaire composed of 19 questions that help shelter workers determine which personality category of pet is best for them. The potential owner questions are based on their pet expectations, their lifestyle and their home environment. This system is designed to ensure maximum compatibility with a cat or dog and their new owner.
People who are interested in participating in the ASPCA documentary that is filming at the Boulder Valley Humane Society should contact the shelter for more details. Of course, adopting a cat is nothing that should be taken lightly, it is a life long commitment, so only people who were already considering adopting a new cat in the coming weeks should consider participation in the program.
