Why Cats?
Cats are one of the most popular pets a person may find. Cats are bought as a source of company to the lonely person. It has been proven that people owning pets like cats are generally healthier, less stressed and quicker to recover from an illness or accident! However, if the idea of introducing the cat into the family is to teach the children life lessons pertaining to responsibility, love and loss, you had better be ready to look after the cat yourself!
Owning a cat proves to be less strenuous and expensive than a dog. This is because there is a less risk of cat being injured, of getting lost or of contracting diseases. Cats don’t have to be walked multiple times a day; in fact they can be left by themselves for long stretches, as they are less prone to destructive behavior when alone. Not only that, the cat that is left outdoors is sure to catch some of those rodents to thus reduce these pests in your vicinity!
Another advantage of owning a cat over a dog is that they are more easily potty-trained. The cat also does not demand too much entertainment from you and are generally well groomed as they spend most of their waking time grooming themselves! When compared to a fish, snake or a mouse, the cat is indeed the cuddlier!
The nature of the cat depends on method on which you first obtained the bundle of joy. Cats from the animal shelter that don’t have a ‘no-kill policy’ are spared from being euthanized. And the animal that is given away may end up living in better conditions when with you, and thus may feel better and cuddle up more to you! There are the uncomfortable cats that is need of an animal companion; these are the cats that will enjoy your company the most; as long as you cuddle them up!
