Stages Through Which Your Kitten Develops

Kittens- small, delicate, cute and fluffy; when they are just born their eyes are closed and they can barely hear anything. The only sense that is fully active in them is the sense of touch. In a time of one to two weeks from the birth the kittens start hearing sounds, and also try to locate the places from where the sounds are emitted. The eyes have opened up a bit only typical to two weeks of age but the eyesight is still poor. The teeth have just started to sprout.

Next as the third week approaches the sense of smell is fully developed, and they can see well enough to recognize and approach their mother. But the walking ability is extremely limited. In the fourth week hearing capability is fully developed and now they can be fed with solid food. Now you may find the littermates walking and playing socially. In the fifth week sight is nearly fully developed and the teeth are in place. Now you can find them running and pouncing.

In the next week the kittens start regulating their body temperature and the adult sleeping patterns are developed. From the seventh to the fourteenth week they are intensely active, as they have developed increased physical coordination and social skills. You will see then chasing after each other, playing and holding tightly to each other, leaping and pouncing and playing with toys, fight with the littermates and hold on to their tails.

From the fourteenth to the thirtieth week the kittens looses their baby teeth, which are replaced by a sharp and edgy new set of adult teeth. Within six months they are no more kittens, they have grown into adolescent cats that roam about around the house. By this time the adult sexual behavior starts so all non-breeding cats should be spayed or neutered before then.
