Dealing with Aggressive Cats

Having a cat that can love and wants to be loved in return is what many cat owners are hoping for. In some instances, however, there are cat owners that find themselves having to handle a cat that is out of control with an aggressive anger and attitude. For such cat owners, it is important to deal with the aggressive nature in a direct and prompt manner.

Dealing with aggressive cats can be hard on some animal owners. This is because many do not want to have to punish their cat, even if they are being highly aggressive and not cooperating with its owner. There are various reasons as to why a cat will become aggressive. The main reason for a cat being so aggressive is that the cat may feel threatened or have the need to try to protect what is theirs. This is especially valid if there is a great amount of stress in the household. A cat that is experiencing these mannerisms should be looked at closely to determine the underlying cause. If it is stress, it is important to keep as calm of a nature as possible in a household.

In some instances, a cat will act aggressively if they have been ignored. This is a means of the cat trying to grab the attention of its owners, even if it is a negative means of doing so. A cat can carry great emotion within themselves as well, which is why it is important for cat owners to make sure that they give the affection that their pets deserve when they are being aggressive.

Cats can be aggressive for many reasons. It’s always best to take your kitty for a check-up at the vet’s to rule out any health problems. An undiagnosed ear infection can cause her to be ill-tempered because she’s in pain.

Pay attention to your kitty’s body language, too. If you’re petting her, and her tail starts to twitch and jerk, that’s a signal she’s had enough. If you continue to pet her, she’s probably going to grab you with her claws and bite you!
